New Mexico

A great vacation idea

New Mexico always had an appeal to me. It seemed far away, exotic and off the beaten path. In July 2019, I decided that I would experience New Mexico for myself. I flew into Albuquerque and used it as my base to tour around the area. I chose to spend two nights at the Hotel Albuquerque and then two nights at the Hotel Chaco. These sister properties are located on the edge of the historical district of Albuquerque. I rented a small pick-up truck, got out a paper map (yes they still do exist) and planned a route exploring the backroads between Albuquerque, Sante Fe and Taos. The scenery was incredible!! Many spots along the way, I was following the Rio Grande River.

In Sante Fe, I toured several hotels to be able to give my clients firsthand knowledge of where to stay. The photo is me in front of my favorite hotel.

It is called the Inn at Loretto. It is such a quaint, boutique style property.

New Mexico was so much more of a destination than I anticipated. I did not think I would fall in love with New Mexico the way I did. I definitely would return. I love the scenery and the laid back atmosphere of the entire state.

There are so many wonderful little gems of properties to stay at-such as El Monte Sagrado in Taos with the most beautiful gardens & Spa; Los Poblanos outside of Albuquerque on a working lavender farm; Hotel Chaco in Albuquerque with the relaxing roof top lounge; and the Inn at Loretto in Sante Fe in the adobe style buildings that have so much charm.

Definitely a trip to New Mexico will not disappoint if you are looking for off the beaten path, a non-touristy destination and a drive along the famous Route 66 highway!!
