The waterfalls way up high in the mountains outside Huatulco are worth the 90 minute drive over very bumpy, dirt roads. As you climb higher into the lush mountain region, you pass little towns with children lining the road to wave at you as you pass by.

When you reach the waterfalls, there is a shaded path along the river that is an easy climb up the mountainside.  All along the river you can jump in the water at any time and play in the waterfalls.  The water is cool and refreshing. It the clarity is pristine and you can see your toes in the sand.  There are vines that you can swing on and jump into the water.

At the end of the path as you circle back down towards the parking lot, there is a hut along the river with locals making the most delicious Mexican lunch.  The hut is very primitive and the food cooked on an open fire.  The food was hot and delicious.

I absolutely recommend this day tour from Huatulco.

Huatulco, Mexico is my number 1 favorite Mexican resort destination. I am blessed to have traveled to each Mexican tourist destination offered from Alberta.  Huatulco is perfect in my opinion.
