Point Peele
Most Southern Tip in Canada!!
Point Peele National Park is the most southern tip in Canada. It is located in southwestern Ontario, south of the town of Leamington. It is a densely forested area with large maple & oak trees. There are miles of walking paths throughout the park. As well, there are wonderful beaches that seem very remote. You can camp overnight in the park in little chalets set amongst the trees. Each chalet is equipped with a kitchen and deck with bbq.
There is a tram service from the Visitor Center to the "tip" if you prefer to not walk the 2.5km stretch between the Visitor Center and the tip. Once at the tip, there is a 6 story observation tower offering magnificent views on a clear day all the way to Ohio!!
Since there is a very strong undercurrent at the tip, it is too dangerous to go in the water at the tip. Numerous people have drown. There are plenty of signs warning of the dangers of going in the water. Point Peele is also known as a birders paradise. The National Park has set up cameras so that you can actually watch the birds from the comfort of your own home.
My son Sam & I took a day trip to Pointe Peele recently and we thoroughly enjoyed our day in the National Park. I highly recommend if you are in the area, experience the park for yourself.
